Policy Statement FLE recognises that our work may have a direct or indirect effect on the local, regional and global environment. We are committed to reducing any harmful effects on the environment and promoting the understanding of sustainability in its broadest context.
We have identified the following areas where we can have a measurable impact on the environment:
Travel: We aim to reduce the impact of vehicle emissions by encouraging the application of sustainable principles to travelling and arranging meetings. Where possible our company cars are low-emission or hybrid vehicles. We will utilise public transport where appropriate to travel to interview venues, and we will encourage the use of ‘video-conferencing’ via systems such as Skype for candidate and client meetings.
FLE have also invested in a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) telephone system, giving our team the opportunity to work at home if required, yet be connected directly to the office telephone and computer network without having to travel.
Energy and Water Saving: FLE use energy efficient lighting in the office and fully controlled heating. We do not have air-conditioning. We work within a building that has been built using reclaimed materials, and to the highest standard in terms of insulation. We use energy-efficient computer systems.
Waste Reduction: FLE actively recycle all paper, card, glass, plastic items. We do not use disposable plates, cups or cutlery – all items are washed and re-used. We have implemented a paper-free administration system for time-sheets and expenses, and receive our faxes via email. Old mobile phones and printer refills are sent for recycling.
